Why Talk Like A Pirate?

That's a very good question. You could ask the guys that made the holiday up, or read their website (www.talklikeapirate.com), but we'll save you the trouble and paraphrase it here:

In the name o' all the barnacle encrusted buccaneer souls rottin' away in the cold depths o' Davy Jones' Locker, why the bloody hell not? See, talking like a pirate is fun, and anyone can do it. Nothing to buy, no tests to take. It's really that simple. Talking like a pirate adds a zest, a swagger, to your every day conversation. Try it. Say "Arrr!!!". Nothing to it, eh? Feels good, too.

Now get this straight. Real pirates were bad people and are in no way worthy of emulating. Pretend pirates, on the other hand, are fun. Think Johnny Depp. Of course who wouldn't have fun hanging around with Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom? Anyway, when we suggest that you TALK like a pirate, we don't mean you should ACT like a pirate. So skip the pillaging, plundering and slaughtering. Or you'll be endin’ your rum-soaked chum-swillin' days dancin' the hempen jig!
